Some of our most difficult decisions in life are about death. Each client we work with is as unique as the estate plan we create for them. We focus on the goals and needs of each individual client. We understand the complexities of the intersection where money matters and emotional concerns cross.

Listening To You

We listen to our client talk about their priorities. For some, it is maximizing the financial benefit they can pass to their children; for others it is finding a good charitable cause to leave their mark on the world; for still others, it is expressing their love for their family. We are willing to, and enjoy, working with our clients' financial professionals to understand their complete financial picture. When our clients have need of financial or other advice related to the work that we are performing, we are able to recommend excellent financial advisors, elder care counselors, and accountants that we have worked with in the past. Our goal is to craft a plan that meets our client's needs. We will use every tool at our disposal to help a each client achieve their goals and satisfy their planning needs.

We also represent clients in all types of Surrogate's Court proceedings- including such things as simple probate, complex administration, and complex estate or trust litigation.

Our services include:

Wills, Trusts, and Estates

We consult with our clients to prepare the documents that will express their final wishes and intent concerning how their property is to be given away. We do this through a variety of vehicles, depending on their individual situation and desire. We also administer the estates of loved ones who have died. In conjunction with our estate planning, we prepare documents such as the Will, Living Trust, Power of Attorney, Health Care Proxy, and Living Will to assure that end of life decisions go as easily and simply as they can in a sometimes emotionally overloaded time.

Estate and Trust Litigation

We have a unique niche in litigating Estate and Trust matters. It is difficult to litigate such matters because it requires several sets of skills: knowledge of Estate and Trust Law; courtroom experience; and knowledge of two different sets of procedural law. We have those, and we do it.

Special Needs Planning

We help people plan for the distribution of assets so a child with special needs can be assured of maintaining their governmental benefits and yet have a standard of comfort assured by their loved ones legacy. We also assist with guardianships for when a special needs child turns 18.

Elder Care Planning

We help people distribute their assets and draft plans to maximize asset retention while qualifying for governmental benefits in the face of long term health care issues. In this situation a guardianship may become necessary when an individual becomes unable to handle their own affairs.

Wealth Transfer Planning

When clients have an estate taxable at death, advanced planning can minimize their tax impact. We can help to transfer wealth in a variety of ways to minimize that impact.

Business Succession Planning

When it is time to “get out” or retire and you need to figure out how to transfer the family business, we can help you do that. We work with your financial advisers, your accountants, and other professionals to craft a plan that makes sense for your individual needs.
